I worked with Alex for an hour, and I was blown away at how much I learned in such a short period of time. He has great tactical advice for tackling math problems. All of his advice is very intuitive and easy to implement, yet incredibly valuable. I feel much more confident on the math section after our session. Alex not only understands the GMAT problems perfectly, but he also has superb abilities at explaining tricky concepts. If you have the budget to get help from him, I highly recommend. He has got to be one of the top 10 tutors in the world when it comes to the GMAT/GRE.

Josh was an amazing tutor. I approached him with a very tight timeline of 3 weeks and he quickly mobilized and created a plan to get me to my target score. He first identified my weaknesses then created a calendar with detailed homework assignments for each week, completely removing the burden of planning off my shoulders. He was also very knowledgeable on the test and helped me see the problems through a lens I hadn’t before. These weren’t "quick tips" but rather ways of thinking that he taught me to adopt. GMAT questions can be rather deceitful, but he breaks each question type down to understandable parts that allow you to see through the tricks of the test writers. In only 20 days, he took me from a Q 38 to a 46, a feat I couldn't have accomplished by simply reviewing math on my own. Aside from that, he was also very supportive and easy to work with, which definitely helped keep up the morale!

Everyone can imagine that mastering the GMAT requires hard work, persistence, and ambition. However, thinking flexibly is a skill that is understated. Josh propelled my GMAT score to over 700 by guiding my thought process towards asking the right questions to understand the key takeaways from each GMAT problem. His patience and understanding of complex ideas and different learning styles drove my GMAT success. He had a unique way of challenging my thinking to set up a new framework for attacking problems. He empowers students by providing confidence in attacking the test. Ultimately, Josh helped me achieve my goal of going to Chicago Booth. The time we spent together was more than just as student and mentor, and I believe that we will absolutely be in touch post-GMAT and post-business school.

I can genuinely say Josh is the best tutor I’ve ever worked with. He helped me “see” the test as I never had before. I had spent months working away on my own, but there was a fundamental piece that wasn’t “clicking” for me until I connected with Josh. Not only did Josh quickly identify which content and procedural areas I needed extra support in, he helped me realize just how significant my test-taking anxiety was and how severely it was impacting my score. I think that there are quite a few things that set Josh apart. He clearly knows this test inside and out, as well as the GMAT prep field in general. His knowledge of the prep resources I had been using was so helpful in putting together the best study plan for me. He constantly went above and beyond to help me meet my academic goals, tailoring top-notch resources to my needs. The procedural tips and strategies we covered are excellent, beyond anything I could have picked up in a book, and essential to any significant score improvement (especially on a tight timeframe). He has a system that clearly works, and it was integral to my success on the GMAT. On a personal note, Josh was a joy to work with. Candidly, the GMAT was a real bear for me, and if the only thing I got out of it was to meet this very kind, supportive, interesting person, then it would have been time well-spent. BUT luckily I also did well on the test, with Josh’s help. He provided genuine, humane support and perspective in an incredibly stressful time. He sent me thoughtful messages before and after my exam days. I very much felt like I had an advocate on my side, rooting for me. In the end, I scored 730 on the GMAT, raising my Quant subscore from a 38 to a 48. I am beyond grateful for my time working with Josh!

Some background: I am an international student based in a Middle Eastern country with absolutely no quantitative background. The last time I took a math class was in high school, and I graduated high school 6 years ago. I decided that I wanted to take the GMAT and took a diagnostic test and scored an underwhelming 580. I signed up for an in-person private tutoring course by another well-known international prep company, and I was able to consistently hit the low 600s, but never past 650. Then I found Josh. Josh is a great tutor and will absolutely take you where you need to go with your quantitative skills. He makes himself available to all of his clients for questions, and even offers great insights and strategies that he has taken the time to figure out himself. He makes sure that you walk away knowing so much more about the exam than before. His emphasis on strategies is essential to any significant score improvement. His insight on sentence correction is also invaluable, and he did a great job walking me through the various approaches that made the verbal section very manageable for a non-native speaker like myself. In the weeks leading up to the exam, my GMATPrep scores ranged from 720-770, (With my highest Q at 50, and highest V at 47) and I finally took the test and scored a 730 (Q47/V42), which I am more than happy with. Definitely worth the money.

I worked with Josh Braslow and got great results! Josh was not only very knowledgeable but also very easy to work with. Over the 2-3 months of tutor sessions, we were able to work on a number of my weaknesses and with his help, we were able to turn those weaknesses into strengths. Josh provided me with a number of different test taking strategies to help me with my timing and a bunch of tips which helped vastly improve my quant and verbal performance. When I started studying I scored a 580 on a practice test. By the time I took the official exam, I finished with a 710 (45Q/41V)!

Let me start by stating that I am definitely not a good standardized tester. My SAT scores weren't overwhelmingly stellar so I knew the GMAT would definitely be a challenge. That being said I tried all different manners of studying in order to make sure I was at my peak performance for my test day, but if I were to do it again I would definitely start with the private tutoring from Josh. He gave me a variety of incredible strategies and helped instill some fantastic study habits in me. With his help I was able to increase my scores in almost every category and break into a high enough percentile to have a shot at my dream schools. I initially had reservations about online tutoring but I can't stress it enough that it is just as good as in person tutoring. I was even able to schedule sessions BEFORE work so that my brain was at its freshest! If you're tentative about taking the dive, I highly recommend Josh. He will work with your schedule and budget to create a study plan that's perfect for you!

Prior to starting private online tutoring with Josh, I took a Manhattan Prep review course. The review course helped me re-learn a majority of the quant material, but I needed additional help preparing for the sentence correction and critical reasoning parts of the exam. After the course and prior to starting with Josh, I was consistently scoring around a 600 on practice tests, with low verbal scores (31/32). My sessions with Josh were challenging and often focused on sentence correction. He assigned thoughtful homework after each session that truly helped me finally understand the material. Josh completely transformed the way I approached sentence correction, allowing me to bring up my verbal score to a 40. Josh also taught me a number of test taking strategies that helped with my quant timing and data sufficiency, helping me improve my quant score from 43 to a 47. Overall, Josh is an extremely patient and knowledgeable tutor. I believe he is the reason why I was able to surpass the 700 mark. I strongly recommend working with Josh if you are looking to achieve your goal score on the GMAT.

I'd highly recommend working with Josh Braslow. When I was initially looking up GMAT tutors, I found there were many highly rated. Josh's name obviously came up, and it showed his consistently strong track record. I figured that Josh's experience with the test for many years would be helpful. And boy, was I right! Josh really understands the test inside out, and will help you understand how the test writers think about questions. This goes a long way in terms of understanding guessing and elimination strategies. Josh also has a great sense of humor, which makes working with him very enjoyable. The first time I looked at anything GMAT-related was in February 2017. I improved 140 points from my first practice test in February 2017 (620) to my actual test in May 2017 (760) - all in the span of 3 months It's not about working hard and doing as many practice questions / tests as you physically can, it's about working smart and using your time efficiently. Josh does a fantastic job of reinforcing these principles.

Josh helped me achieve a 700+ score that I honestly didn’t think was possible after struggling with the GMAT for 3 years. In 2018, I took a Manhattan Prep course. After 3 attempts and a private tutor, the highest score I achieved was 610. I gave up feeling defeated and pretty much accepted that I wouldn’t be able to score any higher. In Dec 2020, I decided to retake the GMAT. I used Target Test Prep exclusively for 12-14 hrs/wk, for 4 months and then decided to try tutoring again to more quickly advance my skills. From our first meeting, Josh impressed me. In our 3 months working together, he taught me various problem-solving strategies that I wasn’t learning with TTP’s algebra-only method. Since I was about 70% done with TTP at the time, our first few sessions focused on whatever TTP topics I was working on at the time. Once I finished TTP, we focused more on official practice sets and exams. I met with him on Zoom for 1.5-2 hrs bi-weekly in the early morning before work, which worked great. We focused mainly on quant at first but also worked on CR and SC. Beyond the content, I also experienced major anxiety while taking practice tests, which led to much lower scores than my effort would suggest. Josh quickly realized that I wasn’t facing a content problem, but could instead benefit from integrating mindfulness into my studies to reduce my anxiety. After a disappointing fourth official GMAT result, he recommended a mindfulness book specific to standardized tests, and we created a study plan that focused on the quality of my studying, rather than the number of hours spent studying. One month after that, I scored a 710, 130 points higher than my lowest 2018 GMAT attempt. I’m thrilled by my results and am so grateful to Josh for helping me achieve the GMAT score of my dreams!
