As the Head of Sales, EMEA my current role is focused on scaling a successful product & sales motion globally. Much of the playbook that I have in place today as a result of the early work and collaboration led by Aateeb Khan, originally a founding member of our Enterprise and strategic sales team who grew to later become amongst the most talented, knowledgeable, and methodical product leaders I’ve had the pleasure of working with throughout my career as a sales leader. currently current role at Aurora Aateeb’s ability as a self-starter, his vision for the potential of what could be, and his tireless follow-through were essential to the success of building out the enterprise sales segment at Aurora, a motion & segment directly responsible for the valuation and success of the organization as whole. Within a week of starting he was tasked with creating a novel pitch deck, identifying key value drivers, and crafting a business value case framework specific to the vertical we work in all intended to enable our teams to evolve from servicing SMB & Mid-Market customers to selling into the largest & most strategic companies in our vertical including Sunrun, Sunnova, Sunpower, Southern Company, & Standard Industries. be used in our first active engagements with enterprise customers. He spent an entire weekend reaching out to sales leaders in other tech startups to ask for 15 minutes of their time to chat, and by the middle of the following week had both deliverables ready for review by senior leadership at the company. To this day, much of what we use for each of these is a derivative of the original work he did. His ability to both critically think and to effectively communicate are evidenced in nearly every meeting he leads through detailed, meticulously organized notes, follow-up on action items both with the group as a whole, as well as with individual stakeholders. Furthermore, he possesses the unique ability to be equally creative and logical, which is rare in my experience. He is creative both as it relates to his ability to solve complex problems through original and unconventional solutions, as well as creative as it relates to his current role where he oversees product design and aesthetics for our core team, for which his work has been recognized company-wide as setting the bar for the flagship products and service offerings released by Aurora Solar over the past 2.5 years. The same self starter mentality & entrepreneurial mindset that resulted in undeniable success for our sales org have (to no surprise) enabled him to be a great a product leader respected by his direct reports & senior leadership alike. Two key qualities which set Aateeb apart from nearly anyone I’ve managed & which—in my opinion are responsible for much of Aateeb’s success: -1. His ability to lead from within by building cross-functional coalitions combined with -2. An innate & organic bias towards action. When Aateeb identifies a complex problem, he has a fascinating ability to take a step back in order to deconstruct the equation, translate the problem into actionable, bite-sized tasks, build a cross-functional coalition including both ICs, peer managers, & executive sponsors who all come together to shepherd a given initiative from concept to completion. Because of the way he is able to build coalitions to shepherd these key initiatives any resulting buy-in & approval needed from leadership for the work he is tasked with make the review & approval process for his work a formality by both peers & senior leadership alike.
