This was my first time working with a paid professional / application coach and can't imagine having had a better experience. Michael has an unparalleled understanding of and feel for what the Schwarzman Scholars committee is looking for in candidates due to his gifts in writing / people skills / strategic thinking, status as a Schwarzman Scholar alum, and large sample size of successful applications after coaching many people into the program. Importantly, his coaching includes both high-level and strategic direction on how to structure the application (e.g., flow of the essays, putting together a coherent story) and very practical recommendations at each step of the way (e.g., word choice, resume bullet points, where to discuss your skillset in the statement of purpose). Michael is also highly professional (respectful yet personable, lightning fast response time), kind, and deeply passionate about coaching. He is authentically invested in his clients' stories and goals, so that working together feels less like a transaction and more like a relationship. I give my highest recommendation to work with Michael as a coach, whether on the Schwarzman Scholars application or on other projects.

I worked with Carlos for interview prep for medical school and he is truly so supportive. We had a strategy session where I learned about techniques to best portray myself as well as mock interviews. I highly recommend working with Carlos for anyone who is feeling confused and stressed about the process!

Michael is an exceptional mentor/coach! He helped me through every step of the Schwarzman Scholars application process and was extremely responsive! He offers insightful and thoughtful feedback at every stage of the application process. His feedback is tailored to each individual applicant and works collaboratively with you to present yourself in the best light possible to the admissions committee. He has an innate ability to craft a fantastic narrative combining applicant interests with personal background. The application materials he provides are extremely helpful, breaking the application process into smaller and more digestible components. Additionally, he exhibits composure under pressure and helps you feel at ease. As someone with a learning disability who struggles with time management and executive function, Michael was amazing at keeping me on track through check-ins and offering personalized checklists/timelines. This is the first time I’ve used a fellowships coach, and it was worth every penny! He truly wants you to succeed and understands that your success means his success as well. It was a pleasure to work with Michael, and I could not recommend a better coach, especially for the Schwarzman Scholars program.
